Preparing for your Tattoo Appointment at The 59 Niseko

Whether you're a first timer or a seasoned tattoo veteran, it's important to follow these steps to ensure a smooth and simple process for you and our shop.

  1. Arrive a few minutes early for your appointment. If it's your first time with us, complete necessary paperwork before starting, and the artist may assess the size and placement of your tattoo. If you anticipate being late, please call the shop to inform us so we can notify your artist.

  2. If you need to cancel your appointment, provide your artist with at least 48 hours' notice, allowing them to schedule another client. In the event of an emergency, inform us as soon as possible. No-call, no-shows result in the forfeiture of the original deposit and require rescheduling with a new deposit. In some cases, repeat no-call, no-show instances might affect your ability to be tattooed by that artist.

  3. Prioritize having a proper meal before your tattoo session, and consider bringing snacks for longer appointments. Tattooing can take a toll on your body, and maintaining energy and blood sugar levels is vital for enduring the process and the recovery afterward.

  4. Shower before your appointment and wear suitable clothing. Opt for loose-fitting gym shorts for an upper thigh tattoo or a tank top for a bicep tattoo. Avoid clothing you're attached to, as ink and blood stains are possible.

  5. Minimize the number of guests accompanying you during your tattoo session. Our shop's space is limited, and multiple guests can hinder the artist's ability to work comfortably.

  6. Be aware of your artist's accepted payment methods. While cash is preferred, some artists accept PayPal, Venmo, and occasionally credit cards. Contact us in advance if you're uncertain.

  7. Your artist will provide aftercare instructions after your session. Additionally, we offer a printable copy of the shop's general aftercare instructions for your reference.

Aftercare Instructions for Your Tattoo

Congratulations on your new tattoo! Follow these steps to ensure a quick and sanitary healing process. As always, if you are experiencing any issues with your tattoo, contact your artist with questions directly.

  1. Initial Bandaging: Keep your new tattoo bandaged for 1-3 hours, or until you can wash it properly. This initial bandaging helps protect the tattoo from external contaminants and aids in the healing process.

  2. Washing: After removing the bandage, gently clean your tattoo using a non-scented antibacterial mild hand soap and warm water. Thoroughly wash the tattooed area to remove any ointment, blood, or excess ink. Use your clean hands or a soft, non-abrasive cloth to cleanse the tattoo without causing irritation.

  3. Showering: While you can shower normally, avoid activities like bathing in onsens, the ocean, or other bodies of water for the first two weeks. Exposing your healing tattoo to excessive moisture can impede the healing process and increase the risk of infection.

  4. Sun Protection: Protect your tattoo from direct sunlight for at least two weeks. UV rays can be harmful to healing skin and may cause fading or damage to the tattoo's colors and details. If your tattoo is in an area that can't be covered by clothing, use a gentle, fragrance-free sunblock to shield it from the sun.

  5. Clothing Choice: Opt for loose-fitting clothing during the healing period to prevent rubbing or chafing against the tattooed area. Tight clothing can cause friction and hinder the healing process, potentially leading to irritation and distortion of the tattoo's appearance.

  6. Avoid Picking or Scratching: While your tattoo heals, resist the urge to scratch, pick, or peel any scabs that may form. Picking at scabs can disrupt the healing process and might result in scarring or color loss.

  7. Moisturize: After the first few days, when your tattoo begins to peel or feel dry, you can start applying a thin layer of fragrance-free, hypoallergenic moisturizer. Ensure the moisturizer doesn't contain any harsh chemicals that might irritate the healing skin.

  8. Patience: Healing time varies for each individual and can range from a few weeks to a couple of months. Be patient and allow your body's natural healing processes to take their course. If you have any concerns about the healing process, don't hesitate to contact your tattoo artist or a medical professional.

By following these steps carefully, you'll provide the best environment for your new tattoo to heal beautifully and maintain its vibrant appearance.
